Where activism and literature meet

In my work with churches, I am a solo pastor of a village church in Orleans County, New York, and I am co-pastor, with my spouse, of an activist church on Grand Island, New York. Both churches belong to the United Church of Christ denomination.

you say dystopia logoThe village church worships at 11 a.m. on Sundays, and the activist church gathers at 4 p.m. on Sundays.

Roger, a member of the activist church, in a program that he give in January 2014, considered the work of E.O. Wilson and David Suzuki, and others, concerning climate change and global warming.

Echoing Wilson, Roger challenged the pastors and persons present to get going on a response to the real possibility of global climate disaster.

Roger and I disagree on the proper use of art. He sees art as having value if it can be used in activism. I see art as having value in itself, and in its access to the human soul.

Roger and I agree on global warming and climate change. If we do nothing, we are bleeping bleeped already, and if we do something the time to act is now. Yesterday, more like.

This blog section is part of my response to the call for action, Roger.
